    Have you run the Surface Area Configuration Tool and looked at the state of the network protocols?

    Dear all,
     
    I had a connection issue today where I cannot connect to the sql server 2005 at all, even locally.
     
    Here is the error:
    Exception Message: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (type SqlException)
    SQL Exception Class: 20
    SQL Exception Number: 233
    SQL Exception Procedure:
    SQL Exception Line Number: 0
    SQL Exception Server: SQL05
    SQL Exception State: 0
    SQL Error(s):
     
    I have tried all the combination protocol, all gave the same error.
     
    Please help me.
