What do A Few Good Men, The American President, The West Wing, and Charlie Wilson's War all have in common, apart from that I really liked them? They were all written by Aaron Sorkin. Therefore, I should like anything Aaron does. Noted.

Have you checked out Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip? They cancelled it after one season, but it was still pretty good.

Not yet. I was pretty turned off by the concept behind it, but then again the other stuff is so good that its pretty tempting...

I have become a big fan since getting into The West Wing very late.
Studio 60 was pretty good, certainly the relationships were amusingly crafted (as with The West Wing), but it didn't seem to have the underlying sense of importance to carry Sorkin's larger themes. Commander in Chief to Chief Writer of a comedy... Hard transition.
It's well worth watching though, if only for glimpses of Sorkin's best writing, and seeing *so many* familiar and brilliant faces from his previous work.
You might also enjoy Sports Night, particularly to get a sense of how some of his trademark stylistic choices fell into place, and see some amusing repeated scenes (sometimes even whole chunks of script). It's weird to keep seeing the WTC in the external scene-setting grabs though... I hear they've replaced them on the DVD version.
Looking forward to new Sorkin. :-)

Yeah, I didn't discover the West Wing until about a year ago. Luckily Catherine picked up the entire thing on DVD for me for only a hundred dollars or so. I sat down and watched the whole thing back to back -- two or three episodes a night. It took about two months to get through the all. I miss that show.

I love the West Wing, but wasn't much of a fan of Studio 60. His preachiness gets a bit much, and the overall themes of the major relationships (Stalking is a noble way of showing you -really- care about a woman. "No" means "Maybe".) are not, I think, good messages. It had some good comedy moments though.
