Has anyone else noticed that Brick by the Ben Folds Five is an incredibly depressing song?

i just thort that id reply to your post because of course its a depressing song. i dont know if you know the meaning of the lyrics but basically its about a young couple who got pregnant, and now the girl wants an abortion.
first chorus: 6am, day after christams throw some clothes on in the dark, smell of cold, car seat is freezing, the world is sleeping i am numb, climb the stairs to her apartment, she is balled up in the couch, her mum and dad went down to charlotte ,theyre not home to find us out.
so basically this is setting the scene of the guy desperatly not wanting to do this, hes in disbelief hence he is numb. the parents cant know thats why theyre going so early when the parents are away. i think that a part of the girl doesnt want to go thru this either, hence she is balled up on the couh, you can just imaging a young girl, curled up in a fetal posistion when he sings these lines. and you can imagine that the whole way 2 the clinic they sit in absolute silence.
...the call her name, at 7.30 i pace around the parking lot..............cant you see its not me your dying for, shes feeling more alone then she ever has before...etc
this few lines, more then anything gives away the theme of the song, the lines "cant you see its not me youre dying for", here he is speaking directly to the unborn baby, kinda pleading with it to forgive him, its not his fault, becaus he wanted to have the chiild, but the girl has made this decision, but still he feels sooo guilty.
i dunno i felt a need to add this here becasue analysis is a huge part of music appreciation and music is what i do :-) neway hope this explains why its a depressing song, nxt time u listen to it it will be even more sad, i cried when i realised what the lyrics meant...
Peace
