| Adium crashes on launch |
Dear Mac Nerds,
Adium upgraded itself this morning, and now crashes on launch. This still happens after rebooting the machine. I'm a MacOS n00b, and have no idea how to debug what is happening. Please be with the helping?

My first guess would be your preferences are corrupt somehow - Does the issue affect all users on the machine, or just one?. If it's just one user, try moving the Adium folder in /Users/username/Library/Application Support aside and launching again. If it works then, you know that was the problem. Depending on how attached you are to all your settings, you might try moving the bits in there back one at a time to narrow down to an individual file which is causing the issue.
Failing that, there's a little app called Console in your /Application/Utilities folder - Fire it up, clear the display, then launch Adium and see if you get any useful info there.

So there's the thing. I tried running adium from the command line, but its not clear to me how you launch a Macintosh GUI app that way. The Adium entry in the Applications folder is actually a folder itself, with all kind of weird stuff in it. How do you run a Mac GUI program from the command line?
I moved the stuff in the library folder out of the way, and that didn't help either.
Oh, and the dock has lost the Adium icon as well, which doesn't seem like a good sign to me.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? :P
If that doesn't work, go get one of the Debug Adium builds from adiumx.com. I ran debug builds for a while when I was reporting bugs against Adium's libpurple.
