| Redirect to a file:// URL? |
Apparently firefox doesn't process 302 redirects to file:// URLs. This annoys me, although its perhaps because of some sort of security reason. I'll go an sulk and rewrite my code some other way.

You want to read http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_don't_work#Firefox_1.5.2C_SeaMonkey_1.0_and_newer and amend your user.js appropriately. Then Firefox will let you transition from http:// to file://, but only from trusted web sites.
