Blathering for Thursday, 24 January 2008

    08:48: Packing for linux.conf.au 2008... I hate packing.
    13:18: In the car on the way to SFO. I seem to do this drive a lot...
    14:09: Checked in, with bad seats, and the flight isn't as direct as the itinerary says. It goes via Auckland.
    14:55: TSA now require _all_ electronics removed from your bag at security. So slow.
    15:10: Through security. Now I wait.
    15:46: Flight from SFO to LAX delayed by two hours
    15:46: I predict I will miss my international connection, as I now have 15 minutes to get from terminal-something to Tom Bradley
    17:19: Still waiting for the plane... Its been delayed from 4pm local time to a little after 6pm. Thank god for EVDO.
    17:19: Oh, I've just remembered that I need to go through security at Tom Bradley as well. I am DOOMED.
    17:44: SFO to LAX flight delayed further... I'll now have 5 minutes to change terminal, go through security again, and find the right gate.
    17:44: At least its a challenge!
    18:09: About to board!
    18:28: On the plane! Its later than expected though by about ten minutes, so that gives me -5 minutes to get to the next flight. About that challenge...
    19:52: Flight just landed
    19:53: Boarding for my next flight started 30 minutes ago...
    20:19: Ran to the flight, just made it
    20:36: On plane!

    21:25: QF26 now having wngine trouble during taxi. Yay!
    21:37: Now we're parked waiting for an engineer to show up and kick the engine or something
    21:50: Oh, and now we burnt so much fuel idling we need to refuel
    21:50: And they just called for a volunteer doctor -- which can't be good
    21:55: Apparently we're "having a couple of issues"
    22:04: My reading light just stopped working... Its going to be on of those flights
    22:05: Did I mention that despite the SFO to LAX flight being booked with qantasn on a qantas flight number, qantas doesn't seem to care about my lost bag? They said that's something I'd have to take up with american (who ran the flight)
    22:08: They just announced that there are paramedics on the plane and a sick passenger. They're gonna take the sick person off the flight, but that means finding the bags as well... Which could take a while.
    22:26: They have't even started removing the bags, or loading fuel
    22:51: Still on the ground
    22:51: Fuel loading now though -- we need an extra six tons!
    23:00: Are we there yet?
    23:08: Are we there yet?
    23:08: Fuel truck is pulling away!
    23:09: Should be leaving in the next five minutes or so they say
    23:15: About to taxi! Again!
