    Hi,

The G30 can be had for $3500 or so now (according to StaticIce – probably less with the current sales). It was expensive when it came out due the HD-DVD drive. They were pretty pricey 6-7 months ago

    Cheers

    Ken

    Have a look at this

    http://www.cnet.com.au/laptops/laptops/0,239035649,240060340,00.htm

I'm in the process of getting one myself and everyone I talk to seems to think it's the best at the price ($5499.00)

Subject: [aus-dotnet] OT : Developer Laptop

    Hi All

I am hunting for a new laptop to start the new year off, and was wondering if anyone would care to share some thoughts or recommendations with me as to a reliable developer laptop with grunt. I'm looking at the Dell (Latitude series), Lenovo, and Alienware ( http://www.alienware.com.au/dnn2/default.aspx?tabid=104&ConfigurationID=53). I'm particularly interested on feedback from the latter if anyone's bought one.

I also don't know whether 64 bit is the way to go or not so any opinions would be appreciated. Budget isn't a problem but I want a machine that'll look after a developer for 2 - 3 years.

    Thanks in advance

    Grant
