I'd certainly be interested in any gems of information and tips you guys have, please feel free to carry on your SCSF conversation on list.

    Greg,
I have written a major real world app in SCSF and CAB. I don't know what
'tipped me over the edge' but you are right there is a point where it

all starts to make sense. I haven't followed the tutorials and my experience is with the June 06 release. If this the same version that
you are using please feel free to contact me off list (assuming no-one
    else is interested in SCSF).

    Cheers, Greg.

    Hello on Sunday evening,

I’m in the middle of a crash course on CAB and Smart Client Factory.
I’ve been running through the zipped developer Labs found here:

    http://www.codeplex.com/smartclient/Wiki/View.aspx?title=Hands-On-Labs&referringTitle=Smart%20Client%20Software%20Factory

In the middle of Lab-3 you are about to learn the vital skill of
creating a Service, but the instructions deviate from the skeleton
exercise code and become incomprehensible. The completed exercise code
doesn’t match the instructions. Later this evening I’ll move on to
Lab-4 and see it if returns to sanity.

I totally understand the theory of what the SCSF and CAB are supposed
to do, as (like many of us) I’ve written mini versions of what they do
in helping you create a large application from plug-in pieces. But I’m
at the frustrating stage where I’m teetering on the edge of practical
understanding of how to use CAB and SCSF in a real world app. I just
need a bit of help to push me over the edge.

If anyone else out there has ‘cracked it’ and is now reasonably fluent
with CAB and SCSF, then I’m keen to know what tipped you over the
edge. Any general advice on this would be most welcome.

    Cheers,
