Ok, I didn't think Microsoft were that silly so I forwarded the email to my hotmail account to check after a tip off. It worked fine, as it does in yahoo mail too. Seems like gmail sees a docx file and thinks it's smart to wrap it in another zip file. Why I don't know. No, I didn't click the 'download all attachments' button btw. It recognises the MIME type correctly: Declaration of support (Standards Australia) FINAL.DOCX (application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document) 18kb Anyway, I got the document now, crisis averted :) Sam On 6/15/07, Sam Lai <samuel.lai@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:
Just checked - you're right. Why you'd put a DOCX file within another zip file and give that an extension of DOCX I have no idea. Word expects a DOCX file (a zip file yes, but with .xml files inside), not a zip file with a DOCX file inside. Looks like Microsoft haven't gotten their heads around docx either :P Sam On 6/15/07, Michael Silk <michaelslists@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > you said you knew the type was zip, but you also said 'can anyone open > the document' as if to suggest you couldn't. you can unzip it and > inside are a bunch of documents that can be opened. > > i don't have word 2007 though, so i didn't try and open them with that > [but they aren't docx anyway). > > anyway man, it's a friday, so shoot me if i missed something :) > > > On 6/15/07, Sam Lai <samuel.lai@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Care to read my message more carefully? :P > > > > On 6/15/07, Michael Silk <michaelslists@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > it is a zip document, with a bunch of xml documents inside of it > > > (rename to .zip and unzip). > > > > > > > > > > > > On 6/15/07, Sam Lai <samuel.lai@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > > Hmm... looks like gmail's not happy with Open XML - it doesn't > > > > recognize the attached docx as a document at all, and instead gives it > > > > a MIME type of ZIP (which it is I know) but then when I download it, > > > > IE treats it as a zip, adding the extension for me. > > > > > > > > Anyway, changing the extension to docx doesn't work either - Word 2007 > > > > says the document is corrupted. > > > > > > > > Can anyone else open the document? > > > > > > > > Sam > > > > > > > > On 6/15/07, Scott Fletcher (Intl Vendor) <i-scottf@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi Guys and gals, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We really need help from you all to make Ecma Office Open XML a standard and > > > > > we need support from Australia.
