I wouldn't do both. Decide on which main mechanism you want
to use. Authentication events are probably best. When you first authenticate,
clear the session and begin anew. Make the forms authentication expiry
window for the cookie the main window for deciding the validity of a
users and work around. Dont try and sync both ways.

Anyone got any
experience synchronising a session with forms
authentication.
How do I expire a
session when you are not authenticated and how do I unauthenticated when
session expires.
