Hi,
For a lot of the MSDN TV episodes that have those demos embeded in them, when you download for offline viewing you get an installer that installs basically a cut down local copy of the MSDN TV site so it works the same way as viewing online (only faster obviously). I've noticed that some of the newer episodes have just provided two seperate downloads instead of combining it all into one. You might want to try looking at one of those other episodes and modifying it to work with the ones you want instead of looking into your cache to get the online pages. I might be wrong, but I think this way would be eaiser. Here's a list of some of the episodes that appear to have been done that way:
2004-12-16 - Avalon Layout Basics
2004-11-04 - Writing Managed Code for SQL Srver 2005
2004-10-21 - Drag Once Databinding for Client Apps
2004-10-14 - Advanced Orchestration Concepts in BizTalk Server 2004
2004-09-30 - .NET Smart Clients
2004-09-23 - Introducing Visual Basic Express
2004-09-16 - New Visual Studio Tools for Web Developers
2004-08-26 - Using Managed Resources
2004-08-12 - BizTalk
2004-07-22 - Visual Basic Power Pack
2004-07-15 - Visual Studio Extensibility
2004-07-08 - IDE Enhancements for Visual C++ in VS2005
2004-07-01 - Visual Studio Automation Model
Hope that helps,
Michael
Something for the ASP aficionados, I think.
I've just watched "Writing Secure Code with Visual Studio 2005" (http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdntv/episode.aspx?xml=episodes/en/20050721VSTUDIORS/manifest.xml ) by clicking on one of the "Watch the video" buttons, and I have also downloaded the episode to my local hard disk from this page ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=BED43DD9-A02B-46AD-93BE-84B5B1A8DC27&displaylang=en).
MSDN TV ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdntv/default.aspx) has a neat trick where a demo is inserted within the commentary by the talking heads, using a couple of popup web pages. I guess this is not unusual with webcasts, but if you want to watch the commentary and demo offline (by downloading the separate .wmv files), the sequencing is lost.
What I'd like to do is to construct a couple of pages that I can use to run on my local machine, in which I can insert the couple of local paths/ filenames pointing to the downloaded .wmv files.
Can someone "show me the code" (I like Darren Neimke's hotmail email address, btw) on how to do this? It would be a useful tool for others who are challenged in the web development department, like I am.
