[aus-dotnet] Opening Word XML documents in ActiveX IE control

Hi all,

 

I’m doing some work which requires hosting Microsoft Office Word documents in a Windows Forms application. At the moment I’m using the ActiveX IE control (AxSHDocVw). This works fine when I load an ordinary “.doc” document. However any attempt to open a Word XML file always results in the file being opened in a separate Word window.

 

I know how and why this happens (mime filter via MSOXMLMF.DLL), but I really need the “.doc” behaviour for XML files.

 

I believe the DSOFramer sample (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=311765) has similar limitations.

 

Any ideas?
